Hi I’ve been trying to recover my Acer Aspire 5742 due to a corrupt bios, and been following the pages for phoenix instructions (5742g uses it apparently) but stopped when I realized that mine uses Insyde. I have confirmed this by entering crisis mode to see if it would work.
The newest bios for my model is 1.30, which has a KBCA230A.rom file, and a pew71x64.fd file. I seen somewhere that these merge together but am not to sure if that’s the case. I was thinking of using an earlier version but I can’t recall which version was installed before becoming corrupted. I have a USB thumbdrive but wouldn’t running a Phoenix crisis recovery tool not work on an Insyde?
I’m also unsure of which file to rename. Any help would be appreciated! Hello all, I just bricked my engineering Touchsmart M6 15.6″ with i7-4550u HD5000. The bios was B.0F, I downloaded the bios F.18 from TouchSmart M6-k125dx which is i5-4200u. The flash didn’t back up the old bios for some reasons. There is no TouchSmart M6 with i7 – 4550u anywhere.
There is no working bios for me to download and restore. The board finished flashing the bios 2048 sectors and verified then it doesn’t reboot just power on and black screen with the wifi button red. I think the new bios doesn’t know what i7 4550u HD5000 is because it’s for i5 4200 HD4400. It was stupid of me, if anyone can help, I would compensate for your work. I ordered a motherboard from Ebay for the i5-4200u to fit into this motherboard, but the i7 – 4550u is really nice.
Qpsql driver not loaded. Thanks, Louis. My BIOS file from the Lenovo (G580 20150) site and download the software Universal Extractor it was extracted. After Phoenix Tool 2.56 software with file WinG5901. Ram opened to understand what name should I change the file name. The problem is that I can not sign?
I choose as characters allowed. Linux operating system could change the name of the file, but when I do I copy files to a flash drive instead of a character?
To _ (Under Line) become Windows 7 does not allow the copy What is the solution? Please help me out. Hi everybody. How you all doing?? I have read through the entire post and done plenty of research regarding bios crash failure repair etc etc.
I was busy doing a bios update and then power went out while the update in was progress, or should i say it was at the end busy finalizing. I have tried all the methods that are mentioned here and on all the other websites and have not been able to get the laptop up and running. The symptoms are as follows: My laptop is totally dead only the power light comes on by the charger plug to show that the charger is plugged in, no other lights. When you press the the power button with any of the key combinations still nothing. The laptop is a HP DV6 Pavilion Entertainment pc, Model: dv6-1225ei. Does any body have any idea of how repair this bios update failure? I am a technician by trade and don’t believe that it cannot be repaired.
Any new methods would be appreciated. Thank you guys, in advance. I did the first three steps and then all the 12 steps but still the same no update waited for 5 minutes on each try but nothing. However the USB this time flashed only one time and then went off. BTW only files on the both usb’s are K55A.bin K55A.407 I tried with the latest bios available and also the oldest bios from ASUS website I used two usb’s one 8Gb scan Disk and the other one 8Gb Kingston Capacity of both usb’s went to 31.8Mb after doing the Crisis recovery drive. While inspecting and recovering the data in the laptop hard drive on another computer. I found these two files: K55.BIN K55VD.BIN I will tell now how I bricked the bios.
Firstly i erased the whole hard drive by mistake. Then i accessed the bios thinking there is an option to recover the system, I clicked on “Launch EFI Shell from filesystem device” two times and nothing happened then did a restore defaults and save and exited, when the laptop restarted it was bricked. I don’t know if this applies to UEFI, but with Phoenix BIOSes, CRISIS oftentimes only works with flashdrives that are 2GB and smaller. You only had one file at a time on the flashdrive when you were flashing, right? If both BIOS files were on the flashdrive at the same time, they could have “confused” the program. CRISIS is a very simple program, since it is designed to run without even a fully functional BIOS. It has strict rules as a result.
